The OMAs 2023 returns for its 6th year, on September 24, 2023 at the historic Regent Theatre, during the Convergence Music and Art Festival

OSHAWA, ON (August 11, 2023) - The OMAs 2023 - Award Show, celebrating Durham Region’s finest talent and vibrant music scene, will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 8pm in Oshawa’s historic landmark Regent Theatre. In addition, The OMAs is thrilled to be part of the inaugural Convergence Music and Art Festival that will be taking over downtown Oshawa from September 22 to 24.

Now in its 6th year, The OMAs (formerly Oshawa Music Awards) recognizes the influence and achievements of local music creators, businesses, and music supporters that help to grow the music scene within the Durham Region, Canada, and globally.

Past OMA recipients include Crown Lands, Dizzy, Shawn Mendes, Lindsay Schoolcraft, Tania Joy, Hill Kourkoutis (Industry Leader 2022), and Wednesday and Greg Keelor (2022 Lifetime Achievement/Hall of Fame).

This year The OMAs will present awards in 11 categories: Emerging Artist or Band, Artist or Band, Album, Record, Songwriter(s), Song, Music Teacher(s), Music Video, Music Producer(s), Music Industry Leader, and Lifetime Achievement/OMA Hall of Fame 2023 Inductee(s). With submissions closing in mid-June and adjudication finished by the end of July, the nominees will be announced in mid-August, followed by public voting for fan favourites like Emerging Artist and Artist/Band of the Year.

The OMAs, an esteemed annual music awards ceremony that has recognized exceptional talent in Oshawa and the Durham Region for five years, will be an integral part of Convergence, adding an extra layer of excitement and prestige to the festivities. By combining the vibrant energy of Convergence with the prestigious honour of The OMAs, attendees can expect an unparalleled experience celebrating the very best of Ontario's music scene right here in Oshawa.

Convergence will serve as a sensational platform for artists, musicians, and music enthusiasts from across the province to gather in the heart of Durham Region and revel in the rich tapestry of sounds that define the region's music landscape. This event aims to foster community spirit, connect music enthusiasts, and elevate the artistic brilliance that emerges from Oshawa and its surroundings.
